Installing HydroBot, keeping it up to date, and getting your account ready to use.

Install

Download the build for your computer from the download menu, then open it. On macOS, the build is not notarized yet: the first time you open HydroBot, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway.

Updates

HydroBot updates itself. It checks for a newer build when it opens and once an hour, and installs it when you ask it to. A build that is behind will not run: it tells you which version it needs and offers to update, so you are never working in an old one by accident. To update by hand instead, download the installer again from this site.

On macOS without a signing certificate the app cannot install an update by itself: it will ask you to download the new build and open it.

Create an account and sign in

HydroBot asks you to sign in before it runs. Create an account in the app — on the first screen, or in Settings → Account — and sign in with the address and password you chose.

One account signs in on one device at a time. Signing in on a new device asks you first, and when you say yes the other device is signed out.

Approval

New accounts are approved by hand, so a brand-new one cannot sign in straight away. Nothing is emailed to you about it: message us on any channel below with the address you signed up with and we will approve you.

Create your account in the app first, then ask. If you try to sign in before we answer, the app says the account is still waiting.

Message me to activate your account

Mention the address you signed up with.

Internet

The app checks for an internet connection and for our account service before it opens. If either is missing it says which one, stays closed, and asks again on its own — a moment later it will come up by itself.

Help

The app says which check stopped it, so the first thing to read is the sentence on its own screen. Anything else, ask here:
